Alex Rubin was born in queens NY, eighty-three

​

a guitar playing rockstar he wanted to be

​

now a bit older and reality's more clear

​

after working his hands, his mind, and his ear

​

there seems to be forces outside his control

​

that keep him from breaking, keep him playing the role

​

the role of a teacher a writer a technician

​

while life seems to pull him away from his mission

​

to break out with songs heard all round the earth

​

and seeing that quality of music's great dearth 

​

paying the bills and feeding his gut

​

and practicing frustrated petting his mutt

​

married and happy at times there's dismaying

​

but he'll just keep on writing and teaching and playing

​

one day his luck may become more salient

​

but right now he plays while nobody sees it

​
